Welcome Letter

Kesha Collins

Greetings Wolverine Families,

With excitement and gratitude, I write this introduction as the new Assistant Principal of West Middle School. As a native of Montgomery County, I am truly honored to serve in this capacity. I look forward to joining the Wolverine family and supporting all students with a safe and positive environment conducive to high levels of learning.

Before entering the education profession, I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Winston Salem State University while serving in the United States Army Reserves. Upon returning home, I started my teaching career in 2012 as a Health and Physical Education teacher at East Middle School. I also served as an AVID teacher, Athletic Director, and basketball coach at EMS. In 2020, I had the fortunate opportunity to participate in the Principal Preparation for Excellence and Equity in Rural Schools (PPEERS) program, earning my Master's of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

On a more personal note, I am “Gigi” to two grandbabies, Andros and Kayson; just mentioning their names makes my heart smile. I love spending quality time with family and making memories by hosting themed family functions. Finally, I would be remiss if I did not mention my biggest supporter and teacher, my mother, "Mrs. Mary," whom I have watched model love, kindness, and compassion towards everyone she meets.

As Assistant Principal, I plan to let love, kindness, and compassion be my guide in providing a safe and positive learning environment that is inclusive and equitable for all students. I believe "it takes a village" to ensure student success. Therefore, it is my goal to work diligently with our leadership team to leverage partnerships and foster positive relationships with students, parents, and teachers to maximize opportunities for our students to thrive.

I look forward to meeting and working with our Wolverine Families as we grow throughout the school year. Go Wolverines!!!
